What’s on tap for this weekend? If your calendar is looking a little empty, here are some ideas to fill it up for the next several weeks.
Pile the family in the car and head to Showboat Drive-In Movie Theater just west of Tomball. This old-fashioned theater is a great way to spend a weekend evening with the family. One of the best things about it is you get a double feature for a fantastic price! Two screens show films every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, beginning at 8pm. Concessions are open until 10pm and serve up meals as well as traditional movie theater fare. Pack a blanket, make sure your FM radio works, and drive on over to a modern-day theater with a throw-back experience.
Check out one of the local breweries. You can enjoy the cooler weather and hang outside playing lawn games while sampling some homemade beer. Hop Scholar Ale House and Fortress Beerworks in Spring, and Bearded Fox Brewing in Tomball all offer a laid-back atmosphere where beer-drinkers and their families can hang out, watch sports (Hop Scholar is the unofficial OSU alumni meeting place), and listen to live music.
It wouldn’t be October without some Halloween fun, so check out The Woodlands Resort and Spa’s Halloween Party on October 26. A special event at the resort will feature a costume contest with great prizes awarded, a Trick-or-Treat scavenger hunt on the property, refreshments, and a family dance party.
Have a little down-home fun at the Tomball Bluegrass Festival located on South Elm Street in Tomball. Live music performances by The Coleman Brothers, Travers Chandler & Avery County and Lone Star Bluegrass Band will fill the afternoon while kids play in the kid’s zone. Enjoy street vendors and a pick-up jam session under the Shade Tree.
