The Great Outdoors: Top Local Nature Trails

In this month of gratitude, we’re feeling grateful for all the amazing amenities and walking trails that we have all around our area! We are so blessed to live in such a well kept community, ideal for families, pets and staying active!

If you’re looking for more opportunities to get moving and out into nature, here are our favorite spots for outdoor activities in The Woodlands/Conroe area!

The Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center has it all! Located off of Riley Fuzzel Road, visitors come to enjoy miles of walking paths and scenic overlook points on a private 11.6 acre property. There are a number of lakes and rivers throughout the greenway, making it a great spot for fishers, kayakers and canoers to enjoy. Because there are so many paths to explore, the space feels quiet and serene, as if you’re truly out enjoying the great outdoors in its natural state! Stop by the facility and learn all about their focus on preservation, restoration, and education of this natural area.

We’re also blessed to have the W.G. Jones State Forest nearby, one of the largest working urban forests in the nation! Located right in the middle of Conroe and The Woodlands, this is a beloved destination for many local outdoor enthusiasts. With 15 miles worth of walking and biking trails, dedicated equestrian trails, and multiple lakes for fishing and a large variety of native plants, it’s no wonder this is such a popular spot!

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Spring Creek Nature Trail. This huge natural surface trail spans 14 miles total, following alongside the Spring Creek! Visitors take their pick of one of two trails, the 6 mile trail or the 8 mile trail! It is highly encouraged to bring bug spray, sunscreen as well as plenty of food and water, as this is truly a wilderness experience! Tip: plan your vehicle pick up and drop off spots well ahead of time. You’re not going to want to turn around and walk back to your car, that’s for sure!

Whether you’re looking for a new place to walk your pup, want to get into biking or just want your family to enjoy the outdoors, one of these spots is bound to fit the bill!
